1. What does a standard policy cover?

  • Dwelling coverage, or Coverage A, covers the structure of your home, like its foundation, walls, or roof.
  • Other structures coverage, or Coverage B, covers the structures on your property that aren’t attached to the home, like sheds, garages, or fences.
  • Personal property coverage, or Coverage C, covers your personal belongings, like furniture, appliances, or clothing.
  • Loss of use coverage, or Coverage D, covers the cost of necessities should your home become uninhabitable due to a covered peril. This may cover expenses for food, temporary housing, or other necessities.
